The league is getting crazy. First off, let's salute TC.
The guy came into the most competitive fantasy league in the world eyes wide open, and his face has been pissed on by eight guys in a row. As salty as that has to be, mad feels in your direction TC. Let's take a closer look at just how bad his beating has been.
- No team has ever been eliminated from the playoffs as fast as Week 8. Week 10 is the earliest a team has ever been eliminated.
- No team has ever started the season 0-8. The worst a team has ever started was 0-5, and that was in the 12-team era. In the 16-team era, 0-4 is the worst a team has ever started.
- It's also not like TC has a terrible team, he actually has a higher average than 4 other teams, it's just that he's literally got POUNDED. His opponent's have averaged 132.4 PPG against him. That's a pounding boys and girls. He's only had 3 games where he scored within 20 points of the opposing team.
Now that isn't to say that TC doesn't have goals left to fight for. League Taco is still very much up in the air. Also, the longest losing streak in league history is nine straight losses, held by Duncan in 2015. TC can still avoid grabbing that record. Good luck, my man. But as far as your playoff hopes this season go, we send you and your team down the river on a flaming boat.
The Game of the Week started off great for the Scallon Express, going up 60 points by mid-afternoon against the Mexi Turbo, but then Scallon experienced something that can only be described visually.
Just when you think you got him, HE GONE. This Turbo boost came curteousy of a combined 90 points from Watson, Fuller, and Elliott in the two late afternoon games. This adrenaline shot gave Curtis the victory over Scallon 149.50 - 122.42, and earned Curtis back-to-back Team of the Week awards, his 3rd of the season, and his 3rd in 4 weeks. All this in light of the Ezekiel Elliot ongoing suspension news, that he may indeed serve his 6-game suspension this year. If he does, Curtis would be without Zeke until Week 2 of the playoffs. That makes earning a bye week extremely important for Curtis. But the legal battle for Zeke isn't over, so who knows, really.
Perhaps the game of biggest impact; however, ended up being the Hunt - Jesse rematch. Due to scheduling imperfections, Jesse and Hunt play twice this season, which results in a little extra special division fun. This time around, Jesse bests Hunt thanks to a inspired JuJu Smith-Schuster, perhaps the best name in football right now, effort of 32.3 pts, that let Jesse edge out Hunt 122.38 - 120.54, and win the rematch. With Ewoldt losing against the #1 power-ranked Bellhops 104.48 - 130.36, and Coach Herzog, who relied on a 3rd player of the week performance to carry him past some rough bye quantities; and Brady fending off the Duncan 100.28 - 94.96, thanks to a brilliant Paul Richardson play (28.50 pts from someone I've never heard); this puts the X-Iowa division into a SICK 4-way tie at 3-5. That is, of course, another thing that hasn't happened in the IFL before. Unreal.
Gustin stomps the 9 Year Olds 147.94 - 86.88 as Mr. Ziemann gets upset by Hansen the Upper Decker 101.10 - 121.34, which puts him just one game back in the BSC.
The Flaming Hot Gingers eek out their 3rd straight game without scoring 100 pts, which keeps them in a tie for the Cul-de-Sack / top wild card spot.
The Bellhops remain two games up in the Dirty Doc and the Boys, as the Birds of War and Kelce if you are desperately on their tail.
Par for the course this week by all divisions, pretty much going 30-30 all the way round.
Division Overall W-L:
CdS: 261-219
BSC: 254-226
DD&B: 241-239
X-IA: 204-276
5 perfect Pickers this week, as the the Pickers Consensus goes 4 for 4. You'll notice I added "PC" to the ranks, which stands for Pickers Consensus, because it's interesting to see how the group fares as a whole. So far only two of us can beat all of us. Let's see if anyone else can break out from that reality.
I wish I had more time to document all of this league's intrigue. Till next time.
