The 2020 regular season of the Iowa Fantasy League is a wrap. That is quite something to type, as I legitimately thought the NFL may not be played this year, or at least not to this extent. Props to all of those at the IFL Headquarters who have helped to implement fantasy football COVID-19 protocols, so that the greatest fantasy football league in the world can play and coach this great sport safely and responsibly. Thanks also the IFL fans and media who have kept their social distance so that our coaches can do their jobs.
So, who finished the regular season of the nuttiest year in recorded history on top? Coach Brady, and the aptly named FULLY STOCKED. After finishing the 2018 season as the IFL Loser of the Year, he honorably served his punishment and delivered one of the most brave and embarrassing calendars ever produced. He didn’t fare too much better last year, still in the Tournament to Not Be Last, but avoided punishment with 13th place. But riding his #1 draft pick, and #4 scorer in the IFL this year, Dalvin Cook, Brady has returned to his championship form, finishing the season 10-3, as the regular season champ, after putting up a truly convincing performance against Drew, 230-162. FULLY STOCKED finishes the season averaging the most points in the league, 175 PPG, and 186 PPG over the last four weeks. Now Brady’s 2016 IFL Championship team also finished the regular season 10-3, and that team had an average PPG of 131.6. If we adjust Brady’s 2016 team for this year’s scoring format with IDP players, that 2016 team would be averaging 170.4 PPG, meaning that through the regular season, FULLY STOCKED is higher scoring than the legendary Twenty Deuce.
Jack grabbed the other bye in the championship playoffs, and the Dirty Doc & the Boys division title, despite his loss to the Scallon Express 151-185, because PROFESSOR DISRESPECT lost the Bounty Brawl to his Big Brother Austin, which was a flamethrower of a game, the final score 222-198. The Barium Bunch have now made the championship playoffs for the 4th straight year, only ever missing them in their inaugural season. I mean this isn’t the first time I’ll call him Coach Doctor Belichick and it won’t be the last. Jord held the tiebreaker over Jack, thus the importance of his loss being one game back. Jord being the top record not winning a division at 8-5 grabs the first wildcard spot and the fifth seed, making the championship playoffs for the third time in five years.
Since Nick held the tiebreaker over Curtis and NOSCOPE TRENT, all he had to do to return to the championship playoffs and win the Cul-de-Sack division title in back-to-back years was win this week, which he did, quite easily, against the deflated Hype Zone 162-114. This is 5th championship playoff appearance, which ties Drew for the most appearances by any coach. He grabs the 4 seed and will play Jord this week in the quarterfinals.
Aaron, we already knew had clinched the Boy Scout Cyclones division, since he held the tiebreaker over Scallon, and he grabs the 3 seed, his 2nd ever championship playoff appearance. He last appeared in 2017, the only other time his won the BSC.
That brings us to the 6th seed, which, came down to four 7-6 teams, and their head-to-head records: TC (2-0), Austin (2-1), Zach (0-2), and John (0-1). With TC prevailing in that tiebreaker, that means, despite the 12th worst PPG in the league this season, he will return to the playoffs, and still be alive for a shot at a repeat. Austin, John and yours truly are relegated to the consolations, where they will fight for 2021 draft odds.
A second, even nuttier tiebreaker scenario was needed for the cutoff between Consolation and the Tournament to Not Be Last, as Joe and Jesse both climbed into the 6 win teams with wins this week, making five squads at 6-7. The head to head records for those five went: Joe (3-0), Ewoldt (2-1), Qualley (2-2), Jesse (1-2), Curtis (0-3).
That meant that Joe, Ewoldt, and Qualley all sneak into the Consolation tournament, and Jesse and Curtis fall in the bottom four, the dreaded Tournament to Not Be Last. Godspeed gentlemen.

Brady and Austin absolutely CRUSH it this week, combining for 453 points, and carry X-IA to a decisive victory over the Cul-de-Sack as top division in the league. This is the first time X-IA has ever finished the season as top division.
Division Overall W-L:
X-IA: 433-347
CdS: 420-360
DD&B: 385-395
BSC: 322-458
As good as Qualley was last week, he falters this week, and Jord goes 3 for 4, and builds upon his lead. With just three weeks to go now on the season, it’s crunch time in pick ‘em.
It’s tournament time!
