Football is the least predictable or understandable sport, and with COVID, it’s reached new heights. And in a sick way, I love it. Keep in mind, I say that as a coach that’s 1-4.
Despite being #14 in the power rankings, Curtis gets yet another win, this week against division rival Nick, 165-150. Despite averaging only the Xth most points, he moves to 4-1, and is now in control of the Cul-de-Sack division. Nick’s team has finally cooled off, after coming out of the gate like a NOS’ed up stallion.
And then there’s Ewoldt, who despite his also lower power rankings, continues to defy all expert understanding, and beats Jesse 191-179, and earns a 5-0 start, which has only been accomplished by Anton (2015), Brady (2016), and Jesse (2019) ever. Not to mention the fact that 191 points was the most in the league, and he now has the best overall win-loss record, 58-17 (if he played every team every week).
But if you’re going to talk about 5-0, you got to talk about 0-5, because that is equally impressive, and shared by fewer company, TC did it in his rookie season (2017), and Aaron did it twice (2014 & 2018) (maybe those two are meant for each other), and now Drew has done it, by TC’s hands no less, 160-137. And in this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year, that brings me tremendous solace.
Brady wins his 4th straight game and 4th straight bounty brawl, now scratching the Scallon Express off of his list, 153-128, but will have to deal with 5 byes in Week 6, which may actually make the game a challenge for the ol’ buck.
The Scallon Express is only operating on 3 wheels, averaging the 3rd least points in the league through 5 weeks, but upon looking at the Boy Scout Cyclone division, it becomes apparent that that may not be an issue, as the entire division turned in a truly horrible week, going 0-4, and achieving the 4 lowest scores in the league. John, Drew, and Hunt are combined 1-14, sharing the 3 lowest PPGs in the league, and the least worst BSC team Aaron, at 3-2, still has the 5th worst PPG in the league. With Julio, and Davante hoping to return this week, the Express may get back on the playoff highway. Heck, all they have to do is not be horrible.
As stated, TC won, and moves to 4-1, while the Barium Bunch beat Joe, 172-151, also moving to 4-1, sharing the lead in the DD&B. Qualley picked up another win with 188 points, over Hunt, and remains one game back.
X-IA has a great week, while the Cul-de-Sack falters, and they take the lead by 3 games. Dirty Doc & the Boys get above .500. The Boy Scout Cyclones have the worst week of any division in IFL history, having the 4 lowest scores of the league.
Division Overall W-L:
CdS: 179-121
X-IA: 182-118
DD&B: 152-148
BSC: 87-213
Tricky week for pick ‘em, as the Picker’s Consensus goes only 1 for 4, but Curtis and Austin go 3 for 4, and climb a few spots.
Ewoldt’s 5-0, Drew’s 0-5. Everything is still fine.
