It seems like Scallon literally just drafted Christian McCaffrey first overall, and here we are now 14 weeks later, the first time the IFL regular season has been 14 weeks long, and just like that, the 2021 regular season comes to a close. But not without some triumph and heartbeak.

Heartbreak on multiple fronts, as though I was blessed to join Coach Brady Monday night in Glendale, Arizona, to watch his Cooper Kupp put up 30 points on my fantasy team, we were witness to the unraveling of a relationship betwixt two fifty-somethings, who had, as many of you saw via Brady’s videography, apparently just experienced infidelity, both past and planned for the future. This was all happening silently, mind you, as they outwardly showed no signs of animosity, and the husband was perfectly content to cheer on his beloved Cardinals despite the turmoil boiling beneath, and in fact, if you watched the game you probably heard his cries of “DE - FENSE” throughout the night. There are many conclusions we can take away from this glimpse we caught of these strangers’ lives, but mostly I left State Farm Stadium thankful. Thankful to be in a happy, committed marriage. Thankful to have Drew in my life, even if he rarely hosts game night and has yet to invite me over to his farm. Thankful for playing the worst team in the Iowa Fantasy League in the final week of the season so that I clinch the playoffs. Lots to be thankful for.

With TC BEING SO WEIRD ABOUT IT wrapping up the Cul-de-Sack division, the last division to be determined this season, that left only the final wildcard spot up for grabs in Week 14, and Joe, Ewoldt, Curtis, Austin, Nick and Jack all waited on pins and needles on the outcome of BLASTERS vs the Scallon Express, as TC held a one game lead on all of them. Austin, Nick and Jack would lose their own matchups this week, which put them out of contention, and though Joe, Ewoldt and Curtis would all end the week 7-7, TC’s BLASTERS were able to JUST edge out the Express, 99-91, meaning he would maintain his one game lead for wildcard, and clinch the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive year. That streak is now the highest active streak, as with Jack being eliminated, he ends his four year streak of making the playoffs.

Hunt’s GROOVERS quietly win their 13th game in a row, despite leaving two slots open this week, which is obviously a breaking of his own record, but also a new record for most wins in a season. We’ve had five 12-win teams in our history, but never 13. Granted the extra week helps, but we’ve also never had a team finish with one loss. A playoff run could mean that that record gets extended to 14 or 15 wins, which would just be unimaginable frankly. And yet the GROOVERS have been THAT dominant. This is the first time Hunt has been to the playoffs since his 2015 Polygamy in Portland team.

Jord, who sent Curtis packing this week, 104-70, did so clinching the other bye week, the 2nd time he has done so in his coaching career (see 2018 Momma Cat, who lost a heartbreaker to Slick Rick’s Firepoles 146-161 in the 2018 IFL Superbowl). Though he doesn’t have the same firepower that team had (Momma Cat is still the highest scoring team of all-time), the Real Slim Brady definitely has way more heart. And I think that is way more crucial when it comes to championships.

Lot to look forward to now that the playoffs are here, and key matchups will be broken down in pick ‘em polls posted tomorrow. But boy am I jacked. And still thinking about the storm brewing silently in the heart and fingers of that woman sat in front us Monday night.

Good luck to all coaches in whatever bracket below they may find themselves in.

The Cul-de-Sack has a strong collective week and finishes the season as the top division, the fourth time they have done so in eight seasons of the IFL, far and away the most dominant division in the league. The Boy Scout Cyclones finish as worst division this season, as they did in 2020, after winning top division in 2019.

An interesting week, as the consensus goes 4 for 4, and only Curtis follows it, tying back with Jesse at 2nd. Bonus point time now ensue with playoff pick ‘em.
