The theme of last week’s recap - the precipice of an avalanche (team’s clinching playoffs in droves) is now even more true, as we had no new teams clinch, and there are still 7 spots still up for grabs.
The only team that had clinched last week, Aaron’s Badassmailman, put his stamp on the season, by shipping Rodger’s LSDream Team first class to Losertown, USA, posting his 2nd most points this season and winning 162-118. The win extends his streak to 11 straight, and gives him the Boy Scout Cyclones division title for the 3rd time in 9 seasons, second only to Drew, who has 4 division titles. The win also earns him the title of Regular Season Champ, which is the first time he’s ever achieved that honor. That of course means he’ll be the #1 seed in the playoffs, which no longer comes with a first round bye, but gives him first pick of who his first-round opponent will be of the #5-8 seeds.
The loss for Austin snaps his five game win streak, and was accompanied by the lack of Justin Fields last week, as he’s battling a separated shoulder. Austin’s playoff chances very well ride on the fate of Justin Field’s health moving forward, as he now sits 6-6 like dang near half the league.
Next closest to clinching is Curtis the IFL’s 3-Peat Pick ‘Em Champ, who now has the 2nd highest active win streak, getting his 3rd consecutive win this week over #Griddy, 122-96. The win maintains his two-game lead in the Cul-de-Sack, and with two weeks to go, time is on his side.
Papa Jord’s is there for the taking after TC and Deshaun Watson’s Lawyer suffered defeat to the Daddy’s Boys 97-115. Both Qualley and Austin are now one game back.
X-Iowa is a truly open race; however, as Jack, Ewoldt, and Hunt all nestle into the aforementioned 6-6 teams, and are in a 3-way tie. If the tie were to remain, Ewoldt would have the tiebreaker on them.
Here’s a fresh look at the current playoff projections below.
If the season ended today, the seeding would be:
#1 (DIV) Badassmailman (11-1)
#2 (DIV) IFL’s 3-Peat Pick ‘Em Champ (8-4)
#3 (DIV) Deshaun Watson’s Lawyer (7-5)
#4 (DIV) Mr. Autodraft (6-6)
#5 (WC) Scallon Express (7-5)
#6 (WC) GOATHIVE (6-6)
#7 (PPG) Tufted Titmice (6-6)
#8 (PPG) Des Moines Football Team (6-6)
Virtually no change here as all four divisions nearly went 30-30 this week.
Chris opens the door after his perfect week last week and the 3-Peat Pick ‘Em Champ and the Commish gain a little ground this week, as does TC.
