The nuttiest year in recorded history brings us our first ever two-ring champion, as the Doc defeats Nick, 171-157 in the 2020 IFL Superbowl. As they say, live by the stack, die by the stack, and Dumped by Hollie’s Cardinals Stack™ was his undoing when it counted most. Hopkins hurt his hip halfway through his game against the 49ers and was limited to 9.8 points, and crazily Murray was also hurt, keeping him to just 16.38 points. Nick got help elsewhere though from Myles Gaskin’s 33 points, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Barium Bunch’s all-around solid performances, including five twenty-deuces from Mahomes, A-Rob, Lamb, and his two LBs Cunningham and Roquan Smith.
The win dawns a new era in the IFL, with talk now turning toward the Doc being a fantasy savant and ushering in the IFL’s first dynasty. If you don’t count his rookie season, Jack has made the playoffs every season of his coaching career, winning his division twice, making this his fourth straight playoff appearance. In the last four years his record has been 40-19, best in the league, and good enough to surpass Drew for all-time win-loss percentage, at 60.8%, to Drew’s now 55.1%. Of course, there’s still one name higher up on that list. But perhaps not for long. We will see what 2021 will bring.
When asked about what he felt upon his historic achievement, our 2020 IFL Champion Dr. Jack shrugged, turned, began to walk away, and as he exited the operating room, looked back and gave a single sly wink. Godspeed, man. And congratulations.
