Though the hybrid scoring system didn’t go my way, it sure was fun to have a bonus week of fantasy football. You can check out the scoring spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MJuPHpJbn1EsksziI1izjSBVhJuQ8I7MXAwTRlZ19Hs/edit?usp=sharing
The ASSassins, who started off the season as the highest scoring team in the league through the first 3 weeks, and began the season 3-2, cooled epically, and proceeded to go 2-7, but when hand-picked by Brady in the Consolation Bracket as easy pickings, a fire was lit under the ASSassins. They tore through Brady, past Ewoldt, and finally, through the Commish’ on their way to reclamation of their season and #1 draft odds for 2023. Daddy’s Boys will settle for #2 draft odds.
In the Toilet Bowl, despite locking in the ridiculous Mike Evans score from Week 17 and his near 50-burger, #Griddy’s Cook brothers took a dump, combining for just 8.8 points, and every opportunity Brady and the ALL-TIME D had they ran with, to beat out Chris 142.08-130.51 for the Losership. Chris, upon his return to the IFL after his 3-year retirement, is the 2022 IFL Loser of the Year. Luckily for him, the league’s Office of Executions has been pretty lax on punishments as of late.
In other news for Chris, he finished 2 for 3 in the outstanding Pick ‘Em Polls carried over from Week 17. The final poll of the year - Jamar Chase vs Stefon Diggs, which was worth 4 points, was the decider, and it was CLOSE. Chris picked Diggs (23.15 pts) and I picked Chase (22.10 pts) and that 8 point swing was the difference between 1st and 2nd.
Alas, Chris is the 2022 IFL Pick ‘Em Champ, finally putting an end to Curtis’s spectacular 3-year run. Chris is actually the OG Pick ‘Em Champ, in our first ever year of the polls in 2016, so we’ve sort of come full circle.
Alas, here I am signing off in our 9th season of the Iowa Fantasy League. It’s been a pleasure. See you all next year.
