With the Hype Zone getting Walter White’d by the Scallon Express, 187-133, and no longer being undefeated, we can finally stop talking about Ewoldt. I mean after picking up 3 QBs to try to starve his opponent of quality options, and then still getting outscored at the QB position has to make you lose all credibility, right? I mean, so what if he’s still 5-1, and still the 2nd highest scoring team in the league, and Le’Veon Bell just got a lot more upside. Who cares about all that? Who cares how handsome Ewoldt is? Why should that matter?!
Anyway, our Game of the Week, the Doc vs the Mailman did not disappoint. Going back and forth, back and forth, as quite a surprise too, at least for me, as Aaron was up like 13 points when I went to bed with 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter of the Cardinals game, but a late 69 yard tuddy from Kenyan Drake flipped things around for the Barium Bunch, as they earned their 5th win, 172-169. Aaron remains in control of his division, although the Express is now back just one game. Neck and neck with Jack, is TC, who won handily over Curtis, 133-105, in a low scoring affair.
TC’s team is quite peculiar, as they may be the best worst team through 6 weeks the league has seen. Averaging 159 points per game, that’s only 9th best in the league, and having the 3rd easiest schedule in the league certainly helps, but 5-1? Something spooky is going on with the reigning champ.
Speaking of spooky, Nick’s freight train of team finally snaps Brady’s winning streak, 173-155, and the Bounty is at last transferred to a new coach. Brady had no Cook, Carson, or Allen this week, so you know he’ll bounce back, but with Big Brother quietly picking up his 4th win over Joe 144-88, and the Pop Punk Pirates putting up big points over Hunt 189-151, the X-IA division is a 4-way steel cage match. As I mentioned, Curtis lost, and that puts him and Nick at a tie for Cul-de-Sack division lead, at 4-2.
Next week, we’ll have crossed over the halfway point of the regular season, but there’s still a lot that can happen. Week 7 should be a doozy, and we’ll preview those games in pick ‘em, but just as a teaser, we have Drew (0-6) vs Hunt (0-6) this week. Can you imagine?
X-IA extends their lead by a few more, as the Cul-de-Sack has another subpar week, and the Boy Scout Cyclones have their best week of the year, despite going 1-3 as a division.
Division Overall W-L:
X-IA: 214-146
CdS: 206-154
DD&B: 173-187
BSC: 127-233
For the 4th week in a row, nobody’s been perfect in pick ‘em, and I’m 99% sure that’s a record. The spread picks are tougher, no doubt, but we had them last year. Let’s say it’s COVID. It’s always COVID. Brady & Jord both go 3 for 4, though, and climb into a 3-way tie for 2nd behind the Pickers’ Consensus.
