A wee bit more drama this week in the semifinals - with a big upset of our 2nd seed, Coach “More Heart” Richards gets BLASTED by TC 197-142 thanks to three twenty bombs from Diggs, Schultz, and Samuel and a thirty bomb from Ekeler’s COVID sub Justin Jackson and a near forty bomb from Joe Burrow. The latter are players he picked up just this week, and that’s just next-level coaching. Jordan didn’t go quietly with 25 from Montgomery and putting up 2nd most points overall this week, but you got to tip your cap to a guy that puts up nearly 200 points. Jord will finish the season surpassing Curtis as the highest winning percentage coach to have never won a championship. TC will make his way to the IFL Superbowl for the 2nd time in 3 years. This is; however, the first time in our 6-team playoff format history (six years running) that a wildcard team has made it to the IFL Superbowl.
The other side of the bracket was not anticipated to be close either, but after losing Mike Williams to COVID, Hunt’s team put up their 4th lowest total of the season, 122.12 points, which still seemed out of reach heading into MNF, as rookie Josh Waddle has not yet entered the thirty-burger realm just yet. However, with 8 minutes left in the 4th, Waddle was sitting with 25.2 points, and Drew was down just 4.5 points, and it looked like it could be a Christmas miracle for the (F) Shak. That was not the fate written; however, as the THE GROOVERS would hold strong, and our #1 seed will move on to the IFL Superbowl, a first for Hunt.
Next week we’ll have a champion, but this week we have our Loser - the 2021 IFL Loser of the Year is Coach Aaron, the Badassmailman, whose 69 points this week fell short of Scallon’s 95 points. Curiously, he left two players on the COVID list in his lineup, so I think the punishments will need to be fairly intense as result of this brazenness.
Elsewhere, Qualley and the Des Moines Football team defeat Brady’s ALL TIME D 102-88 and is our Super Consolation Champion, which will earn him the 2nd best draft odds for 2022. Congrats!
