Who is the hottest team in the league right now? There’s a few nominees, but my money has to be on Qualley’s Des Moines Football Team.

Starting off the season 1-2, averaging just 90 PPG, the soon-to-be-wed has kicked into high gear the last three weeks, averaging 142 PPG, 9 points higher than the next closest team, the Tufted Titmice. This explosion comes behind the trio of Justin Jefferson, Breece Hall, and Rhamondre Stevenson, which is truly a trio to be feared. All this heat culminated in a $15 performance this weekend, trouncing “Antigua Brady” 145-118.

Papa Jord’s co-leader The ASSassin’s have been on the opposite trajectory. Beginning the season 2-1 and averaging 142 PPG, Coach Jord has only been able to muster 86 PPG over the last three weeks (2nd lowest), and a mere 64 points this weekend after Carson Wentz AKA the Cheat Code went down. This weekend’s loss came curtesy Chris and #Griddy, who have now won three straight games after starting the season 0-3. The ASSassin’s loss places them at 3-3, and cedes the Papa Jord’s division lead to the DSM Football Team.

The most surprising game of the week, GOATHIVE vs Deshaun Watson’s Lawyer, was determined last night, in what looked to be an easy GOATHIVE victory for Drew, ended up being a nightmare, as Mike Williams was only able to reign in 2 of his 6 targets for 3.2 points, and Drew lost to TC 97-98, falling to 2-4. This only the third time in nine years that Drew has had a losing record through the first six weeks of the season. TC climbs back to .500 and remains in the mix in Papa Jord’s.

Besides Drew, the Boy Scout Cyclones went undefeated this week, the Badassmailman picking up their 5th consecutive win, beating Curtis 110-79, and Scallon defeating Nick 126-102. Both Scallon and Aaron move to 5-1 on the season and remain in a tie for the BSC. Nick’s loss sends his team to 0-6, his worst ever start through 6 weeks. It’s got to feel especially tough considering four other teams have worst PPG than him, but he’s a brutal schedule thus far, a league high opponent PPG of 143. That all but has to change, and I imagine he’ll pick up some wins here soon enough. 😬

League history was actually made in two games this week, as Chris and Jord’s combined score of 142.46 was good enough for 2nd lowest combined score in league history, it had nothing on Austin and I’s 64-63 dogfight, which places us in uncharted territory as the lowest combined game in IFL history at 127.05 points.

Of course NFL point totals this season are on the lower end of the typical range we’ve seen over the last decade and with this being the league’s first season without a 2nd Flex position or IDP or 2nd TE, lower scores are to be expected, but to Austin, I say this: whether for good or for bad, better to have your name written into the history books, at least you’ll be remembered.

X-Iowa has their best week of the season and swaps places with Papa Jord’s.

Back to back perfect weeks for Chris - the guy is simply unconscious. Qualley also posts a perfect week and climbs into 6th.
