Hype has re-entered the building, gentlemen! 197.58 pts, the 3rd highest score in IFL history was earned by the Hype Zone this weekend, thanks to a combined 138.7 points from Trubisky, Zeke, Corey Davis and Ertz, and as the victim of this slaughtering pointed out, this was accomplished with a starter, Taylor Gabriel, that laid a goose egg this week. Anton, who lost 114-196 this week, is officially eliminated from playoff contention in the process. A little rusty from his year-long hiatus, perhaps.
For the 4th time in 5 seasons, the Boy Scout Cyclone division belongs to Drew. With 3 weeks left in the season, a 3-game lead and holding both tiebreakers over John and Chris, Slick Rick’s Firepoles are the first team to clinch a playoff spot this season. Drew did so this week in convincing fashion, Big Ben and DJ combing for 72, and a host of other players going to town on Brady, winning 166-147. Congrats, Drew.
The result of the Game of the Week flipped in the last possible moment of the Monday night game, with Sterling Shepard, who had only caught one pass all night, catching the game-winning TD for the Giants, and the game-winning TD for Kirk’s Cousins, winning 134-128. The win is monumental for Kirk’s Cousins, who haven’t yet clinched a playoff spot, but did clinch a winning-record for the regular season, a team first. The win puts Jesse’s playoff odds at 97%, according to FantasyPros.com. He’d really have to screw things up to squander his chances now.
Overall, teams with a winning record went 6-2 this week, solidifying their playoff position strength. The 2nd tier of the playoff race 6-4 teams and worse, are in a desperate, narrowing race. Not a single 4-win team won last week, with the hottest of these, Brat10, losing handily to Chris, 87-124. The 4-win teams need to win out to have any chance at all. The best odds of these teams, Brat10, is 3%, according to FantasyPros.com. So not impossible. But not easy.
We shall see.
X-IA smashes it out of the park this week, climbing above .500 and into 2nd. The CdS goes 0-4 as a division and falls to 3rd, as the BSC gains a little more ground.
Division Overall W-L:
DD&B: 362-238
X-IA: 303-297
CdS: 281-319
BSC: 254-346
The Commish falters this week in his picks, allowing the boys to catch up. Curtis takes advantage the most, putting up a perfect week, including being the only person besides Chris who picked Hooked on a Thielen to beat Brat10. Nice work homie.
3 weeks left. Do or die.
