Despite a gooseegg from Russel Gage and an uncharacteristic performance from Dalvin Cook, Drew’s (F) Shak fends the Outlaw Soldier 122-113 in our Game of the Week, to start the season off 8-0, tying 2015 Tony, 2016 Brady, and 2019 Jesse for longest winning streak in IFL history. All of whom posted a loss in Week 9, so Drew is a lock to lose against Austin and the Snyder Cut in Week 9. Perhaps worse than the loss; however, for the Outlaw Soldier, who is now back in a 3-way tie in the Cul-de-Sack divison, is the news of Derrick Henry, the #2 overall scorer on the season, and the 6-10 week recovery he’ll need after his foot surgery today. Curtis’s team has been the highest scoring so far this season, by a margin of 5 PPG, and he’ll now be reliant on Lamar Jackson, Michael Pittman and Keenan Allen to carry out the majority if not all of the remaining season.
My favorite outcome from this weekend has got to be the mid-season arc completion of the Austin and the Snyder Cut, literally breaking the spine of the Jack and the Technetium Tempest 150-77, and going from potentially worst team of the year after starting off 0-4 to in total control of the X-Iowa division at 4-4. So epic. I literally cannot wait to see what he does next. Perhaps he’ll CGI the mustache off of Chuba Hubbard?
The battle of the roommates went all the way into MNF and it did not go at all the way Papa Jord would have hoped. With Barkley and Montgomery still out, the Real Slim Brady has been tight end dependent, but after a disappointing game from Fant (2.8 pts), he needed a big game from Kelce, and he just didn’t get it (2.7 pts). Qualley and the Des Moines Football Team take this one 123-107, and with the loss from the Doc, that makes the DD&B super interesting, with Jord, Qualley and Jack all tied up at 4-4.
Leading the wildcard fray, THE GROOVERS quietly win their 7th straight game this week, 105 to 100 against the BLASTERS, sending TC to 2-6 on the season. Hunt continues to stay on the heels of Drew in the BSC, and is now two games up from the next nearest wildcard contender. With 6 games left in the regular season, his fate is in his hands.
SUICIDE WATCH: Former IFL Champion, former IFL Loser of the Year Matt Brady is now 1-7 on the season, and just lost his best player, Jameis Winston. Be sure to tell him what he means to you on your next phone call.
Despite Austin’s best efforts for X-IA, The Dirty Doc and the Boys now have sole control of third place, and narrow the gap between them and the Boy Scout Cyclones.
Back to back perfect weeks of pick ‘em for the Commish puts him into a 3-way tie with Drew and Jesse. The top 4 pickers separate themselves from the pack this week.
