Right now, whether you know it or not, we’re sitting on the precipice of an avalanche.
Just three weeks to go and there has been ONE playoff clinch. Aaron’s record-breaking Badassmailman, after thrashing the ASSassins 140-91, and becoming are only the 2nd team in IFL history to win ten consecutive games, now sit at 10-1 and have, at a minimum clinched a wildcard spot. Crazily enough, they could still lose their division, as the Scallon Express still is only 3 games back in the Boy Scout Cyclones division and is the only team that beat the Badassmailman this year, and thus hold’s the tiebreaker.
That said, every remaining playoff spot is still very much in the air. After Aaron’s team, the closest in line to clinch a spot would be IFL’s 3-Peat Pick ‘Em Champ, who got a statement win over the the Des Moines Football Team this week 145-100. Curtis’s win, combined with losses from division combatants DADDY’S BOYS and ALL-TIME D, set Curtis up with a 2-game lead in the division.
Meanwhile, in Papa Jord’s, Austin and Rodger’s LSDream Team get their fifth consecutive win, beating Nick 122-109, and continue to put pressure on Deshaun Watson's Lawyer. TC, though, gets off on pressure, and destroys Ewoldt this week 128-84, to remain a game up in the division.
The loss for Ewoldt was a crucial one for X-Iowa teams, and the Tufted Titmice take advantage, putting up a league high 151 points this week, walloping DADDY’S BOYS with white liquid poop, and screech their way to just one game back in the division.
Though it seemed a much tighter game going into MNF, Jesse was also able to take advantage of Ewoldt’s loss, winning in convincing fashion over the Scallon Express 124-88, and getting back to two games back in X-Iowa.
The surprise of the weekend was certainly Drew’s win over Hunt, who at one point had like a greater than 90% chance of winning, but then Travis Kelce happened, and Jimmy G was able to follow that up last night, the pair accounting for 61% of the GOATHIVE’s total score, allowing Drew to comeback and beat Hunt 102-94, keeping his team very much alive for a wildcard slot.
So as I mentioned, an impending avalanche, as teams will clinch in droves in the next three weeks. The beauty of this season, with the expansion of the playoffs, no teams have been eliminated from contention, nor can they on record alone. Alas, after the 4 divisional titles are crowned, and the 2 wildcard spots are alotted, the two highest scoring remaining teams will be awarded the final 2 seeds. So yes, even Nick and his 2-9 Curtis’s Bronco Coat can still make it. Though he’ll need to pump those numbers up a bit. If the season ended today, the seeding would be:
#1 (DIV) Badassmailman (10-1)
#2 (DIV) Deshaun Watson’s Lawyer (7-4)
#3 (DIV) IFL’s 3-Peat Pick ‘Em Champ (7-4)
#4 (DIV) Mr. Autodraft (6-5)
#5 (WC) Scallon Express (7-4)
#6 (WC) Rodger’s LSDream Team (6-5)
#7 (PPG) Tufted Titmice (5-6)
#8 (PPG) GOATHIVE (5-6)
Three weeks to go, boys. Do or die.
It appears the race for first is going to be between the Boy Scout Cyclones and Papa Jord’s, as the race for 3rd will be between the Cul-de-Sack and X-IA.
If you thought there was any hope to catch Chris, good night. He has another perfect week. Although Curtis continues his climbing of the ranks. 👀
