8 days to go, boys. If you haven't started mocking yet, what are you doing with your life?
Let's dive right in to the hype.
The #1 Pick
In back to back years, Hunt the Fearless is leading us into battle. As we know, the first pick is no picknic.
Check out how the former #1 selections did:
Now, clearly, Hunt's use of the #1 pick last year was the most respectable thus far, as far as season rank, but it still wasn't quite good enough to help carry his team to any significance.
For your reference here's what snagging the actual #1 performer can look like:
In Ewoldt's case it didn't land him a ring, but it earn him $25 in weekly rewards.
David Johnson is currently trending as the the number one average draft pick for this season, and for good reason, followed by the two golden Steelers, Le'Veon and Antonio. Then there's names like Julio Jones, LeSean McCoy, OBJ, & Mike Evans.
Hunt has owned Antonio Brown for the past two seasons, so it'll be interesting to watch his move here. Does he go with tradition or a fresh face? His decision may dictate the course of the entire season.
Drafters to Watch Out For
The top two drafters last year, according to peer votes, were Brady and Herzog. With Brady at the 14th spot, and after the arrogance of his season last year, I think we can all agree to count him out this year.
Herzog; however, will be a fascinating study. If he gained any experience from his freshmen year draft, his sophomore draft could be a very dangerous squad to reckon with. At the #3 pick, he's a lock for DJ, Le'Veon or Antonio, should he be so inclined. All those names scare me.
Nelson was voted to have the 3rd best draft last year, and low and behold he has the #2 pick. So another guy to watch out for.
The Question of Quarterback
Now, according to the experts' rankings, a QB shouldn't get drafted until the 3rd round. The IFL has slowly been maturing as a league in this regard.
As we all remember, Curtis took Peyton Manning in the first ever IFL draft as the very first pick, which as cringe-worthy as that was, didn't actually turn out to be that bad. A reach nonetheless. In 2015, a QB wasn't drafted until pick 16, Andrew Luck, taken by Joe. Luck only played 7 games that year, so again, a reach. In 2016, a QB wasn't drafted until pick 23, Aaron Rodgers, taken by Nick. Now Rodgers scored the 2nd most points that season, so in that case, decent pick, but he paid for it in the RB/WR departments, and that may have cost him in the playoffs. Will the IFL continue to mature? Time will tell.
the many questions about tc
Then there's the IFL ultra-rookie TC. Sitting at the #4 pick, he's got massive responsibility on his shoulders, and no experience in the world's most competitive fantasy football league to help him keep his balance. The real question here is:
Just how bad will
T.C. screw this up?
The 2017 IFL Draft is 8 days away. How prepared can a man be? The answer? Never enough. Godspeed men.
