Now past the halfway point for the regular season, thought it’d be interesting to look at how the Top 16 drafted players have fared versus the Top 16 scorers.
Here’s the first round of the draft:
Le’Veon, of course, being the biggest disappointment, but of the players that have played 6 or more games, David Johnson is the real loser of the draft. His performance equates to a late 5th round draft pick. RIP Drew.
Gurley hasn’t disappointed, in fact the 2017 scoring champ is beating last year’s average by almost 4 PPG.
Only 3 other players have lived up to their pick or better: Kamara, Gordon, and Saquon. Gurley notwithstanding, Saquon has to be the best pick of the first round. Props to Hype.
Who said QB scoring needs a buff? 7 QBs in the Top 16 in scoring, Mahomes, at the top of the list and on a pace that in the last 6 seasons hasn’t been topped save the 2013 start of Peyton Manning (29.5 PPG). Peyton finished 27.6 PPG that season, so Mahomes isn’t far off.
Conner is the biggest + relative to draft naturally, but hsa been impressive filling the role of Le’Veon, outscoring Le’Veon by 2.5 PPG compared to last season.
Thielen is the surprise WR thus far, averaging 10 more PPG than he did last season. Literally insane.
